![]() “What?” Yuki’s ears perked up, “Guardians are the front line of defense for any forest! Second to only the Spirit Tree!” “Our Great Guardian, Kwolok, had once fought alongside the other Guardians of Niwen against such beasts, but they don’t fight as much as they used to…” Its’ contents lazily bumped against the steel insides of the pot. “They’re real alright.” Tuley said, stirring the pot. “It was a fluke, but.it’s dead.” Yuki fidgeted, “I’m actually not sure if we could have even killed it. “Oh? Did you two kill it?” He swiped the vegetables into a boiling pot of broth. It was corrupted by Decay.” Kali explained. “The village we met her in was destroyed by a great beast. “Dorea? She used to be in this village, but she moved to help guide the survivors from Inkwater Marsh.” Tuley raised his brows as he diced the vegetables. Do you know this frog lady? She lived in a village in a swamp to the west.” “Thank you.” Kali sighed in relief, “It’s been awhile since we saw a friendly face. You’ll know if you see maps posted on its door.” It just so happens to be on the other side of the village. It’s said to keep Decay away from the village, and I’m sure your friend will make good use of it. “Y’know, there is a Spirit Well that is still working. He smiled sweetly as he took notice of how careful Yuki was with Kali. ![]() “Make yourself at home, spirits.” Tuley nodded. Immediately Tuley got to work, first cleaning the vegetables he just harvested, and preparing a broth. One corner had a bed, and the other had a stove. To the surprise of no one, it was simple. “Thanks, Tuley.” Yuki nodded before following him into Tuley’s Hunt. Although she was confident in the fact that Kali and Yuki were both hardy spirits, she knew they didn’t have boundless energy. There wasn’t much food they could have eaten on the way, and she forgot when was the last time they both ate something. Yuki was about to open her mouth to protest, but she quickly remembered Kali’s injury and even her own stomach growled. Come, I’ll make some soup for you and you can rest for a while.” He hasn’t left his hut in weeks…You two look tired. My name is Tuley, and I know where Filbert is. “Spirits?” His black eyes slightly narrowed, then widened, “I.had not seen one in so long. Do you know where he is?” Yuki greeted with a smile. “Hi there! I’m Yuki, and this here is Kali! We’re two spirits and we’re looking for Filbert. He took notice of them as he picked up several carrots. Yuki trotted up to him, with Kali right behind her. He hummed a melody to himself as he used a hoe to harvest his crops, its stone end digging up roots and dirt with ease. The gopher-like creature was clearly the farmer of the village. Some of them, however, looked with utter confusion as if they had never seen spirits before. They usually got the message and minded their own business. Yuki stared back at the villagers whose gazes lingered on her friend for too long with narrowed eyes. Some of the villagers stared, especially at Kali, while some simply ignored them. The two spirits made their way towards the village. Not the first time I scraped myself up badly. “Well, if he’s anything like you, he’ll be okay. “They weren’t too big, and hopefully there’s a healer that can help your wing! That nice frog lady didn’t have much to spare, and all my supplies are with Tael…I.hope he’s okay.” Yuki looked worriedly at Kali’s injury. I’m tired of leaping over pools of Decay.” Kali groaned as she picked off a branch between her feathers and the sling that supported her injured wing, “I’m definitely going to need a bath after this. “This is it!” Yuki smiled, her tail wagging behind her. That same atmosphere didn’t even sway when Yuki and Kali had finally reached the Wellspring Village. Although the sunlight brightened up every nook and cranny it could reach, there was a thin layer of a forlorn sigh that dampened what could have been a cheerful air. Parents tended to the young, while gatherers picked up their baskets for harvesting. Creatures of all shapes and sizes shuffled along, working on their daily duties. The sun slowly climbed over the quaint village, lighting the skies with a brilliant golden sheen.
